I sympathize with those who missed out on the thrilling inaugural SuperMotocross (SMX) final in 2023. It was some of the most intense and exciting racing I have ever seen in person. However, if you were unable to attend, don't worry, as Feld Entertainment has announced all the venues for the 2024 SMX series.
Just like last year, there will be three venues: two for the playoff rounds and one for the finals. Fans of the previous series will be pleased to know that one venue from 2023 will return in 2024, leaving room for two new locations.
The zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the first SMX playoff race in 2023 and will do so again on September 7th, 2024. This venue is one of only two in the country with a 4-lane drag strip, making it the perfect choice to host a round for the second year in a row.
Greg Walter, the executive vice president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, stated, "Last year, we transformed a four-lane drag strip into the ultimate off-road playground and fans were treated to a full day of action-packed racing at the opening round of the inaugural SMX World Championships."
Following Charlotte, the second playoff round will be held at Texas Motor Speedway on September 14th. Fans can anticipate seeing how the series' expert track builders utilize the 1.5-mile quad-oval superspeedway, situated on over 1,400 acres of land.
The SMX Final will be held at The Strip at The Las Vegas Motor Speedway on September 21st. This venue, also known as "The Strip," is the second 4-wide dragstrip in the country, providing an opportunity for track builders to showcase their creativity for the second-ever SMX finals.
Tickets for the SMX playoff rounds and final will be available for pre-sale on Tuesday, April 2, followed by public on-sale on Tuesday, April 9.
Last year, two rookies, Haiden Deegan and Jett Lawrence, emerged victorious in their respective classes, winning the $500,000 and $1,000,000 prizes. The question remains: can they defend their titles against the competition once again?
